Mrs. Ulysses Litsey died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Myers near Wallace, April 22 at the age of 64 years, 4 months and 18 days. She suffered a paralytic stroke about 4 years ago, but death was caused by pneumonia. Funeral services were conducted at the Lutheran Church near Wallace, with Rev. Isaiah Whitman. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery. Juliett Orpha Litsey was the daughter of Huston & Hannah Dooley who at the time of her birth resided in Parke County. It was there that she spent her early life and grew to womanhood. On March 20, 1862 she married Ulysses L. Litsey. To them four children were born, one dying in infancy. The others are: WG Litsey, of Spokane, Wash; Mrs. Emma Myers of Wallace and Mrs. Ida Deer of this place, with the husband, survive. At the age of 17 she united with the Newlight Church at what was known as the Spunky Point Church, under the pastorate of Rev. Joel Thomas. In this faith she continued steadfast through life, adorning it with a Godly walk and conversation, and while ever ready to do a good deed or speak the kindly word that true religion demands of all, yet it was to the sick and afflicted that she was especially drawn, and many remember with grateful hearts her ministrations of love and mercy in her home. She was a loving wife, an affectionate mother, a true friend, a good neighbor and a Christian woman in the true sense of that term. She leaves three 3 brothers, one sister, a husband, one son, two daughters, eight grandchildren, and many other friends and relatives to mourn her loss. The following clipping was found in her Bible, which she no doubt treasured because it breathed the spirit in which she bore the long years of suffering from which death brought welcome release "I'm weary, weary, O so weary, Is the journey nearly o'er? Do you see the loved ones beckoning, Standing on the other shore? Can you see one sign of welcome For a soul, weak with despair? Guide, O guide me to you heaven; There is rest - just over there!" -  kb
